From the creation of the Bill of Rights, the United States of America has ensured life, liberty, and happiness to each and every citizen who resides within its broad borders. Over the course of 200 years, America has undergone several â€Å"revisions† of the law and the Constitution. Over the past several decades, debates regarding Constitutional rights have raged all over America, from state courts, all the way to the supreme court. Recently, the constitutionality of abortion has been a major topic, most notably, whether the right to the â€Å"pursuit of happiness† of one person supersedes that of another. Private businesses and/or insurance providers should not be made to include actions defined as immoral to the provider (i.e. abortion, contraception) because the freedom of religion is a Constitutional right that supersedes any legislation passed. However, since abortion is a legal right for all women in America at the present time, it should be available in governme nt healthcare plans. Poverty creates stress within a family thereby undermining healthy growth and development of the child. Deterioration of health, in turn, reduces the school achievement and cognitive ability of the child. Moreover, the environment of a child also affects his/her performance. The child must get proper opportunity to learn. This can be done through child-mother interactions. However, poverty affects the mother-child relationship. Not only poverty but harsh treatment of the child in the hands of parents can also lead to a poor growth of a child. The age between zero and five is the most significant one when it comes to a childs development of foundational capabilities. This is the period when a child learns linguistic patterns and cognitive gains. Social, emotional, moral, and regulatory dimensions are also weaved together at this point of time. It is thus crucial for the parents to become aware of their roles and responsibilities (Wittmer et al., 2016). There are several other factors that affect the growth of children. These include the inability to gain access to various services. Language barriers, transportation issues, stigma, cost, and unavailability of various services and programs wreak havoc in child development (Cherry, 2016). Before developing skills, it is vital to develop meaningful content. When children enter school, they face differentiation and categorization because of their race or class. This very marginalization affects the psychology of a child. Moreover, there are differences between the expressive language and receptive language of a child. The knowledge deficiencies reflect the limited access that children have to informal interaction. There must be compensatory education so that education programs can improve to benefit the children living in poor health and financial conditions (Faitar, 2011). Also, the literacy level and math skills must be improved to ameliorate the gap between the poor and the more advantaged ones. The frequent visits to the seniors rooms for help during the exams and project submissions do not happen any more as the bonding period during which Juniors came to know about the seniors has been banned. The honour and respect which the Juniors used to give their seniors is no longer seen and which in the long run reflect in the lives of students, when they come out of the colleges in to the corporate world, and they are not used to give such respect to their bosses there. All in all, Bend It like Beckham is a perfect example of a child’s expectations versus family and cultural expectations. Jess plays the role of the rebellious girl pursuing her goals, and her family plays the role of strict and old culturally sound ways. Their conflict is resolved and both sides learn from the struggle and accept each other’s thoughts and ideas.
